Suppose that \(A \in {\mathbb C}^{m\times n}, B \in {\mathbb C}^{m\times p}, C \in {\mathbb C}^{q\times n}\) and \(D \in {\mathbb C}^{q\times p}\), and the matrix \(M\) has the form \(M=\left ( \begin{matrix} A&B \\ C&D\end{matrix} \right )\). \textit{Y. Wang} [SIAM J. Matrix Anal. Appl. 19, No. 2, 407--415 (1998; Zbl 0926.15003)] posed the conjecture that \(A, B, C, D\) are block independent in reflexive inner inverse if and only if \(\text{rank}(M)=\text{rank}(A)+\text{rank}(B)+\text{rank}(C)+\text{rank}(D)\). In this paper the authors study the block independence in \(g\)-inverse and prove that the conjecture is true by using the multiple quotient singular value decomposition (QQQQQ-SVD) of \(\{D, C, A, B, C, D\}\).
