Let \(D_\varepsilon\) be a finite domain in an Euclidean space \(E^{m+1}\) of points \(\{x_1,\dots,x_n,t\}\) bounded by the surfaces \(| x| =\frac2{2+p}t^{\frac{2+p}2}+\varepsilon\), \(| x| =1-\frac2{2+p}t^{\frac{2+p}2}\) and the plane \(t=0\), where \(| x| \) is the length of \(\{x_1,\dots,x_n\}\), \(0\leqslant t\leqslant (\frac{(2+p)(1-\varepsilon)}4)^\frac2{2+p}\), \(0\leqslant\epsilon<1\). In the domain \(D_\varepsilon\), the mutually adjoint degenerate multidimensional hyperbolic equations are considered. The author shows that the spectral Darboux-Protter problem involving these equations has countably many eigenfunctions for each real spectral parameter if and only if \(\varepsilon=0\), and that the adjoint problem is a Volterra problem for each \(\varepsilon\geqslant0\) and for each real spectral parameter.
