The authors consider the mathematical model of a viscous gas consisting of the Navier-Stokes equations for a compressible fluid together with the Gibbs relation. A shock wave is treated as a strong discontinuity. The authors suggest such additional boundary conditions that a modified linear problem does not admit Hadamar-type ill-posedness examples.
