The author investigates the general question of when a punctured lens space, or the connected sum of lens spaces, embeds with codimension one in a sphere. (Lens space here means linear lens space, although the author notes at the end that many of the results are more general.) If the fundamental group is of prime power order, a complete answer is provided in Theorems 9 and 10: the answer is a necessary and sufficient condition stated in terms of number theoretic properties. For composite orders, partial results are also obtained and some conjectures are made. An example is provided at the end to show that the connected sum of two lens spaces may not embed in codimension one even though the individual punctured lens spaces do.
