The authors consider Cauchy problems attached to systems of ordinary differential equations whose vector fields are divergence free. They split such vector fields using a monomial basis for polynomial volume-preserving vector fields. Then, they show that the vector fields associated to the basis elements are integrable and provide explicit solutions. Two examples are carried out in order to illustrate their method, namely quadratic and cubic Stokes flows.
