At a point \(p\) in a real semianalytic subset \(S\subseteq{\mathbb C}^n\), there is the germ \(S_p\), an interesting property of which is the minimal dimension of a complex analytic germ at \(p\) containing \(S_p\). \(S\) is a union of subsets \({\mathcal S}^d\) where this holomorphic closure dimension is \(\geq d\). The authors consider the case where \(S\) is semialgebraic, and prove two main theorems. First, that the sets \({\mathcal S}^d\) are semialgebraic and closed in \(S\), and second, that \(S\) can be written as a finite disjoint union of semialgebraic CR manifolds, which (omitting the details here) is tame with respect to the sets \({\mathcal S}^d\). This well-written article starts with an elementary review of semialgebraic sets, Nash sets, and CR geometry. The steps used in the proofs of the main theorems are themselves of interest as foundational results in the intersection of semialgebraic geometry and complex geometry. The authors point out contrasts with the semianalytic case, where there is no analogue for either of the two main theorems, due to a counterexample constructed in the related paper [\textit{J. Adamus} and \textit{R. Shafikov}, Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 363, No. 11, 5761--5772 (2011; Zbl 1235.32005)].
