For the product space \(M= \mathbb C P^1\times \mathbb C P^1\) let \(\omega_1\) and \(\omega_2\) denote the pull-back of the area form in \(\mathbb C P^1= S^2\). Then \(\omega_{a,b}= a\omega_1+ b\omega_2\) is a symplectic form if \(a,b> 0\). It is well-known that the topology of the group of symplectomorphisms of \((M,\omega_{a,b})\) depends on the ratio \(a/b\). In this paper, the author assumes that \(a\) and \(b\) are positive numbers. Then the symplectic form \(\omega_{a,b}\) is integral and the Boothby--Wang construction induces a contact form \(A_{ab}\) in the principal circle bundle \(P= P(a,b)\) over \(M\) with the characteristic class \(c_1(P)= [\omega_{a,b}]\), where \(a\geq b>0\). It is proved that the number of conjugacy classes of maximal tori in the group of contactomorphisms of \(P(a,b)\) is at least the number of integers \(k\) satisfying \(0\leq k< a/b\).
