For solving the impedance boundary value problem in electromagnetic scattering, the \(T\)-matrix method and a new projection method, called \(D\)-matrix method, are presented. In the latter method, the matrix of the linear system is dissipative due to conservation of energy. The convergence and stability of the \(D\)-matrix method are discussed. Numerical experiments indicate that the \(T\)-matrix method is the most efficient despite the fact that there is no mathematical convergence analysis of this method so far.
