Contact algorithm for nonlinear elastic problems with large displacements and friction using the boundary element method (Q1976153): Difference between revisions

The authors give a detailed description of an algorithm for contact problems which uses the boundary element method. The equilibrium and compatibility are satisfied in the final deformed configuration with large displacements, assuming elastic behaviour with small strains and Coulomb's friction law. Such advanced formulation can be accomplished by adopting an updated Lagrangian approach and incremental technique. Two representative examples are studied.
