This paper scrutinizes numerical algorithms for computing special functions and identifies these functions for which software is lacking, in particular, in cases where algorithms have been described in journal articles. The author gives cumulative scores over 44 functions instoled in intermediate libraries, comprehensive libraries and interactive systems. Functions and their cumulative scores over 15 libraries and systems are also tabulated.
