The author considers positivity preserving methods for hyperbolic equations. The central idea is to use essentially non oscillatory (ENO) polynomial type approximations but to enforce additional restrictions on how the polynomial order is increased. Various theoretical considerations are discussed and confirmed by numerical examples.
