Es wird untersucht, ob die Annahme zutrifft, wonach die Verteilung einer Bevölkerung nach Altersklassen als stabil anzusehen ist, d. h. ob die Bevölkerung bei einer Störung dieses Zustandes, z. B. durch einen Krieg, die Tendenz hat, dem alten Zustand wieder zuzustreben. Für England erweist sich die Annahme, einer stabilen Verteilung in diesem Sinne als zutreffend.
