The authors present a numerical scheme for the resolution of a model accounting for a filtration gas combustion process and which describes the coupled evolutions of the temperature of the porous medium, of the temperature of the gas mixture and of the mass of the reacting component of the gas mixture. The problem is posed in the rectangle \(\left[ 0,L_{x}\right] \times \left[ 0,L_{y}\right] \). Dirichlet (resp.\ homogeneous Neumann) boundary conditions are imposed on \(x=0\) (resp.\ \(x=L_{x}\)). The main part of the paper presents the numerical scheme which is based on a mixed finite element method with the lowest Raviart-Thomas elements. The authors then present the results of their simulations that they link to the 1D case which has already been studied by \textit{T. A. Kandryukova} and \textit{Yu. M. Laevskiĭ} [Sib. Zh. Ind. Mat. 18, No. 4, 49--60 (2015; Zbl 1349.80029)].
