The R-matrices for the quantized Lie algebras \(A_ n\) were constructed by Drinfel'd. In this paper, the case of \(U_ q{\mathfrak sl}(3)\) is thoroughly analyzed; the dual of the Borel subalgebra \(U_ q{\mathfrak b}_+\) of \(U_ q{\mathfrak sl}(3)\), its Hopf structure and the R-matrix for the quantum double of \(U_ q{\mathfrak b}_+\) is explicitly constructed and then passed to the quotient to give the R-matrix of \(U_ q{\mathfrak sl}(3)\). The classical limit of the R-matrix reproduces the classical r- matrix of \({\mathfrak sl}(3)\). These constructions are extended to the algebra \(A_ n\).
