In this paper, the authors use a technique of weighted least square approximation to study the problem of reconstructing an element in a Hilbert space. This problem is shown to be linked with the notions of weighted inverses, weighted projections and an angle condition known as compatibility. They present some new characterizations of perfect reconstruction operators and their relationship with the previous problem is studied. Finally, they propose different criteria for choosing an optimal reconstruction approach.
