A space-fractional Stefan problem (Q2199970): Difference between revisions

This paper considers one-phase one dimensional Stefan problem with a fractional Caputo derivative with respect to the spatial variable. For the sufficiently regular initial data classical unique solvability of the problem is obtained. The space fractional operator appears in modelling anomalous sub-diffusion processes. The author makes a careful analysis of the similar problem in a non-cylindrical domain with a given boundary and derives the bounds for the Caputo derivative of its solution. The existence result for the free boundary problem is proved by the Schauder fixed point theorem.
