The analogy between Drinfeld modules and elliptic curves/abelian varieties has inspired a number of people to view the module of rational points of a Drinfeld module \(\psi\) (over a global field) as the analog of the Mordell-Weil group of an elliptic curve. This culminated in the work of Bjorn Poonen, which established that such an \(A\)-module is a direct sum of a free module of countable rank and a finite torsion module. In the paper being reviewed this is generalized to finitely generated function fields.
