The authors construct high-order Magnus expansion methods for linear problems in a Lie group setting. By an appropriate truncation of the exponential operator, time symmetric schemes are constructed. In particular an efficient Magnus method of order 6 is given which only requires three function evaluations and seven commutators. Some numerical results are presented.
