The classical wave operator in \(\mathbb R^{n+1}\) with variable but independent of time coefficients is considered. The aim is to prove a global stability estimate for the unique continuation property for this operator. Under some very special and numerous assumptions, two main results involving logarithmic estimates are proved. The coefficients in the inequalities are explicitly calculated. As an application, the case of a domain of influence of the wave solution vanishing in a small cylinder is considered, and a stable estimate for any positive time is proved. Tables with estimates for the used parameters and uniform regularity estimates for the distance function are presented in Appendix A. There are large references to the work of D. Tataru in this field, for instance to its Carleman-type estimate. In this context we should mention the paper: [\textit{D. Tataru}, Commun. Partial Differ. Equations 20, No. 5--6, 855--884 (1995; Zbl 0846.35021)].
