Let \(\mathcal{K}\) and \(\mathcal{E}\) denote the complete elliptic integrals of the first and second kind, respectively. The purpose of this paper is to study the function \[ \delta(r)=\frac{\mathcal E - r^{\prime 2}\mathcal K}{r^2}-\frac{\mathcal E^{\prime}-r^2\mathcal K^{\prime}}{r^{\prime 2}}. \] It is shown that \(\delta(r)\) is strictly increasing and strictly convex from \((0,1)\) onto \((\frac{\pi}{4}-1,1-\frac{\pi}{4})\). Furthermore, some inequalities for \(\delta(r)\) with the best possible constants are presented. The proofs use manipulations of hypergeometric functions.
