The authors study rank two vector bundles \(E\) defined on a threefold \(X\) and having the property that \(H^1(E)=0\) and \(E=E^*\otimes \omega_X\). These bundles, which are a generalization of instanton bundles on projective spaces, are called \textit{odd instantons}. In particular, the authors consider components of the moduli spaces of bundles on Fano threefolds \(X\), whose general element is an odd instanton. When \(\mathrm{Pic}(X)\) is generated by \(K_X\), such a component \(M\) has been constructed for bundles with \(c_1=-K_X\) and large \(c_2\). In the paper under review, the authors describe the structure of the component \(M\), when the genus of \(X\) is \(9\). Prime Fano threefolds \(X\) of genus \(9\) are linear sections of a Lagrangian Grassmannian \(S\). Cutting the dual variety \(S^*\) with a plane orthogonal to X, one finds a quartic plane curve \(\Gamma\) and a rank two stable bundle \(V\) on \(\Gamma\) such that \(\mathbb P(V)\) is isomorphic to the Hilbert scheme of conics in \(X\). Moreover, in this situation, \textit{A. Kuznetsov} [Cent. Eur. J. Math. 10, No. 4, 1198--1231 (2012; Zbl 1282.14075)] constructed an integral function between the derived categories of \(X\) and \(\Gamma\). The authors make use of Kuznetsov's function to show that, for \(c_2\geq 8\), the component \(M\) is birational to the Brill-Noether locus of bundles \(F\) on \(\Gamma\) satisfying \(h^0(F\otimes V)\geq c_2-6\). For \(c_2=7\), the authors show that the whole moduli space \(M(-K_X,7)\) is isomorphic to the blow up of \(\mathrm{Pic}(\Gamma)\) along a curve, corresponding to the Hilbert scheme of lines in \(X\).
