The author considers the fractional differential equations \[ D_{0^+}^{\alpha}x(t)=f\left(t,y(t),D_{0^+}^py(t)\right)\text{, }t\in(0,+\infty) \] and \[ D_{0^+}^{\beta}y(t)=g\left(t,x(t),D_{0^+}^qx(t)\right)\text{, }t\in(0,+\infty) \] subject to the initial conditions \[ \lim_{t\to0^+} t^{2-\alpha}x(t)=x_0, \] \[ \lim_{t\to0^+} t^{2-\beta}y(t)=y_0, \] \[ \lim_{t\to0^+} t^{\alpha-1}x(t)=x_1, \] \[ \lim_{t\to0^+} t^{\beta-1}x(t)=y_1, \] where \(f\) and \(g\) may be singular at \(t=0\) and \(\alpha\), \(\beta\in(1,2)\), \(p\in(0,\beta)\), \(q\in(0,\alpha)\), \(x_0\), \(y_0\), \(x_1\), \(y_1\in\mathbb{R}\), and all derivatives are taken in the standard Riemann-Liouville sense. Both existence and uniqueness of solution is considered under the imposition of various growth hypotheses on the nonlinearities \(f\) and \(g\). The mathematical approach is to convert the problem to an appropriate integral operator and then to investigate the existence of fixed points via Schauder's theorem. In fact, much of the paper is devoted to showing that this integral operator is completely continuous. There are some typographical errors such as in the boundary conditions given above -- in particular, it seems that the condition \[ \lim_{t\to0^+} t^{\beta-1}x(t)=y_1, \] should, in fact, read \[ \lim_{t\to0^+} t^{\beta-1}y(t)=y_1. \]
