    The authors extend the results of \textit{B. Wang} [J. Differ. Equations 221, No. 1, 224--245 (2006; Zbl 1085.37056)] on lattice differential equations of the form \[ \begin{alignedat}{2} \frac{du_i}{dt} - \nu (u_{i-1} - 2 u_i + & u_{i+1}) - h(u_i) - g_i = 0, \quad t>0,\; & i \in \mathbb{Z}&, \\ & u_i(0) = u_i^0, \quad & i \in \mathbb{Z}&,\end{alignedat}\eqno{(*)} \] with a smooth function \(h\) satisfying \[ h(u) u \leq -\alpha u^2+\beta, \quad h'(u) \leq \gamma, \quad u \in \mathbb{R}, \] for some \(\alpha, \beta,\gamma > 0\), to the case where the nonlinear term is \[ h(u) = ru\left(1-\dfrac{b}{u}\right) \] for some \(r,b>0\) and \(g_i = 0\) for all \(i \in \mathbb{Z}\). Hence, the system becomes a discrete approximation of the logistic equation with diffusion \[ \begin{alignedat}{2} \frac{\partial u}{\partial t} - \frac{\partial^2 u}{\partial x^2} - r & u\left(1-\frac{1}{b}u\right) = 0, \quad t>0,\; & x \in \mathbb{R}& , \\ & u(0) = u^0(x), \quad & x \in \mathbb{R}&.\end{alignedat} \] The authors study system (*) first in~\(\ell^2\) and then in weighted spaces, namely, \[ \ell^p_{\delta} = \{v=(v_i)_{i\in\mathbb{Z}}\mid \|v\|_{p,\delta} < \infty\}, \] where \[ \| v \|_{p,\delta} =\left(\sum_{i\in\mathbb{Z}}(1+|\delta i|^2) |v_i|^p \right)^{1/p}. \] Since the equations have a biological meaning, the authors focus on solutions with \(u_0^i >0\). In this subset of \(\ell^2\), the solutions of the system are well defined for all positive times, satisfy \(u_i(t) >0\) for all \(t>0\) and for all \(i\in\mathbb{Z}\), and define a semigroup \(S\), continuous with respect to the initial data. This semigroup extends on the corresponding subset of \(\ell^2_{\delta}\) to a semigroup \(S_{\delta}\), which is also continuous with respect to the initial data. Then, the authors are able to apply a well-known result on the existence and on the properties of global attractors to show that~\(S_{\delta}\) possesses a global compact connected attractor, precisely the union of all bounded complete trajectories of \(S_{\delta}\).
