The authors investigate spectral methods for fourth order problems subject to mixed inhomogeneous boundary conditions. Results on composite Legendre quasi-orthogonal approximation are established. Numerical experiments demonstrate a high accuracy of the method and the fact that it can be applied even in case where the solution changes rapidly, of exhibits different behavior on subdomains.
