The curvature tensor of a pseudo-Riemannian manifold decomposes with respect to the natural action of the pseudo-orthogonal group into three irreducible components: the Weyl tensor, the trace-free part of the Ricci tensor and the scalar curvature. On the algebraic level, this decomposition corresponds to the decomposition of the space of possible values of the algebraic curvature tensors. If we set some of the components equal to zero, we obtain special geometrical situations, for example Einstein manifolds, conformally flat manifolds, Ricci-flat manifolds or manifolds with constant sectional curvature. In a previous paper, it was shown that the space of the possible values of the covariant derivative of the Ricci tensor decomposes into three irreducible components. Letting some of them equal to zero, we obtain \(6\) geometrical situations. In another paper, it was shown that the space of covariant derivatives of the algebraic curvature tensors decomposes into four irreducible components. In the present paper, this decomposition is treated in more detail and it is refined. The characterization of the mentioned components is obtained in a more explicit form. When some of these components equal zero, we obtain \(14\) geometrical situations. Six of them were already considered in a previous paper because they correspond to the decomposition of the covariant derivative of the Ricci tensor. In the present paper, further special attention is paid to the case of a pseudo-Kählerian manifold. It is shown that the covariant derivative of the curvature tensor can be decomposed into three irreducible components, hence, by letting some of them equal to zero, we obtain six geometrical situations. As an application, one obtains various inequalities or equalities involving the curvature. As another application, it is shown that the values of the covariant derivative of the curvature tensor of a non locally symmetric pseudo-Riemannian manifold whose holonomy algebra is irreducible and different from \({\mathfrak{so}}(p,q)\) or \({\mathfrak{u}}(p,q)\) belong to an irreducible module of the holonomy algebra.
