The author gives a result on the approximate representation of quantum mechanical observables and states in phase space. The actual analytic construction for the given example relies on methods that are well studied in the literature and are known as ``Wick'' and ``Anti-Wick'' symbols [for a review see Paragraph 24 of \textit{M. A. Shubin}, `Pseudodifferential operators and spectral theory', Berlin (1987; Zbl 0616.47040)] or coherent states [see, e.g., \textit{E. H. Lieb}, Thomas-Fermi and related theories of atoms and molecules, Rev. Mod. Phys., 53, 603-641 (1981), for a particular concrete application in atomic physics].
