In this interesting paper, the author investigates the Liénard equation under the assumption that the coefficient functions are unbounded at some finite point, the type of unboundedness having been introduced in a recent paper. The objective is to show that, under certain conditions, there exist two large limit cycles and, after perturbation, two additional small limit cycles. The method of the rather concise proof consists in separately studying the behavior of the solutions in the neighborhood of the discontinuity, and at infinity. A conjecture referring to the existence of five limit cycles concludes the paper.
