    The problem of classifying all systems of ordinary differential equations with superposition principles is shown to be equivalent to the problem of classifying all primitive transitive filtered Lie algebras. Then the existing classification of such Lie algebras is used to demonstrate how examples of ordinary differential equations with superposition principles may be constructed explicitly.
