The authors investigate the class C of orthomodular lattices which have only finitely many commutators. They prove the following results: The class C contains all block-finite OML's. Every irreducible element of C is simple. Every element of C is a direct product of a Boolean algebra and finitely many simple OML's. The irreducible elements of C which are modular have height at most two.
