    Let \(\epsilon >0\) and \(\Omega =\{x\in {\mathbb{R}}^ n:\) \(1<| x| <1+\epsilon \}\). It is well known that there is a unique continuous branch of radial functions \(((u_{\lambda},\lambda):\lambda\in]-\infty\), \(\lambda_ 1[\)), where \(\lambda_ 1\) is the first eigenvalue of - \(\Delta\) on \(\Omega\) and \(u_{\lambda}\in C_ 0^{1,\alpha}(\Omega)\) is such that \(-\Delta u_{\lambda}=u^ p_{\lambda}+\lambda u_{\lambda}\) in \(\Omega\), \(u_{\lambda}=0\) on \(\partial \Omega\), \(u_{\lambda}>0\), and \(\epsilon\) is so small that \(u_{\lambda}\) are radially nondegenerate. Then along the branch of radial solutions \(((u_{\lambda},\lambda):\lambda \in]-\infty,\lambda_ 1[\)) the symmetry breaks at some point \((u_{\lambda_ 0},\lambda_ 0)\) with \(0<\lambda_ 0<\lambda_ 1\), if \(\epsilon\) is small enough.
