The authors study mild solutions to a semi-linear second order abstract Cauchy problem. They first prove some sufficient conditions for the existence of mild solutions. Then they proceed to show that the set formed by the mild solutions is compact and connected in the space of continuously differentiable functions. A property of this kind is known in the literature as Kneser's property and is the main result of the paper. First, a simpler version of a second order initial value problem is treated, then the results are extended to the general form. The proofs are very long but well written, including all details of the calculations and estimations.
