In this paper the authors prove a higher integrability result for the gradient of positive solutions to Trudinger's equation that is a special doubly nonlinear equation for the range \(p \in [2, \infty)\). This result extends a recent result due to \textit{V. Bögelein} et al. [J. Math. Pures Appl. (9) 143, 31--72 (2020; Zbl 1462.35114)]. The estimate is achieved following the original idea of one of the authors by refining a construction of intrinsic cylinders from the vectorial setting by incorporating estimates that are only available in the scalar case.
