A space-time, with metric \(g_{ab}\), admits a conformal Killing vector \(\xi\) if \({\mathcal L}_{\xi}g_{ab}=2\psi g_{ab}\) with some function \(\psi\). It is shown that in general such motions do not map fluid flow lines into fluid flow-lines, and that in Friedmann-Robertson-Walker space-times conformal Killing vectors with \(\psi_{,a}\neq 0\), \(\psi_{,a,b}=0\) do not exist. Conditions under which (in FRW-space- times) fluid flow lines are mapped into each other are investigated.
