Certain constants of Landau and Lebesgue play important roles in two related extremal problems in complex analysis and Fourier analysis, respectively. The author lists several sharp inequalities, due to \textit{H. Alzer} in [J. Comput. Appl. Math. 139, No. 2, 215--230 (2002; Zbl 0998.26019)], for these constants in terms of the psi function, and observes that these inequalities do not imply a certain asymptotic formula of Watson. He then establishes new sharp inequalities for these constants that imply Watson's asymptotic formula.
