An important tool in the theory and practice of computer aided geometric design is the use of blossoming. The well-known work of the author is here extended to geometrically continuous piecewise Chebyshevian splines. Specifically, the equivalence between the existence of B-spline bases and of blossoms is established for these cases (Theorem~1.4 in the first section). Moreover, the important concept of ready-to-blossom bases is discussed which enables the user to realize quickly whether blossoms exist or not.
