In this paper a new algorithm for voltage clamp by iteration is proposed. Some theoretical and practical advantages of it over the original one proposed by \textit{M. R. Park} et al. [Single electrode voltage clamp by iteration, J. Neurosci. Meth. 3, 271-283 (1981)] is proved and illustrated. The new algorithm is considered to be very suitable for single electrode voltage clamp in the central neurons. It has been, according the authors' assurance, successfully applied to voltage clamp experiments on rubrospinal neurons of cats.
