Overrings of right chain domains (Q1073889): Difference between revisions

Some examples show that in the lattice of overrings of a right chain domain R in its quotient field Q(R) much more complicated phenomena occur than in the case of a chain domain. Even if R is a right chain domain of rank 1, overrings need not be right chain rings (Example 1). Furthermore, different right chain overrings need not be comparable (Example 2). This suggests to study chain overrings T with additional properties and ask how the lattices of right ideals of T and R are related. For right invariant right chain overrings we obtain a structure theorem in terms of subrings.
