[For part I, see Am. J. Math. 101, 609-632 (1979; Zbl 0414.18007).] We prove that in the localization sequence for a discrete valuation ring with finite residue field, the connecting homomorphism has a section, so that the sequence breaks up into split short exact sequences. This gives a new proof of Gersten's conjecture for such a DVR. We also exhibit examples of global fields for which the analogous global theorem is false.
