    Co-recursive polynomials \(P^*_ n\) of degree n, \(n=0,1,2,...\), are defined by the recurrence relation \(P_ n(x)=(x-c_ n)P_{n-1}(x)- \lambda_ nP_{n-2}(x),\) \(n\geq 2\), together with initial conditions \(P_ 1(x)=(\alpha x-\beta -c_ 1)P^*_ 0(x),\) \(\alpha\neq 0\), and \(P^*_ n(x)=1\), where \(\alpha\), \(\beta\), \(c_ n\), \(\lambda_ n\) are real, \(\lambda_ n\neq 0\). There are investigated zeros of polynomials \(P^*_ n\) and an orthogonality relation is obtained, exploiting the relation between orthogonal polynomials and continued fractions; in case \(\alpha >0\) this orthogonality relation is given by means of a Stieltjes integral. There is given an application to potential scattering.
