In the present paper, solitary waves were proved to exist on the surface of an inviscid fluid in the presence of surface tension and gravity. This was shown by solving the Euler equations for irrotational flow. The authors considered a wave travelling from right to left on the surface of a two-dimensional inviscid, incompressible fluid. They assumed that the flow is irrotational, and that the fluid is at rest at infinity where the asymptotic height of the wave is prescribed. The authors began their analysis with the search of small-amplitude solutions, and considered the Bond number \(\gamma >0\) to be fixed and the Froude number \(\nu\geq 0\) to be unknown.
