It is known that best complex rational Chebyshev approximants are not always unique. In Section 2 the paper shows that Ruttan's sufficient optimality condition can be combined with a sufficient uniqueness condition and propose a procedure for determining the set of all best approximants in case of nonuniqueness. It is pointed out that, an assertion of Ruttan for the characterization of the best approximation, is not generally true. In Section 3 are presented several examples. Among other things, the authors show the existence of a real analytic function on \([-1,1]\) having a continuum of best rational approximants.
