The notion of a JSJ splitting of a torsion-free hyperbolic group in the sense of Gromov was introduced by \textit{Z. Sela} [Geom. Funct. Anal. 7, No. 3, 561-593 (1997; Zbl 0884.20025)]. Under a slightly different definition of JSJ splitting, the author gives a construction of the JSJ splitting of a one-ended hyperbolic group using the local cut point structure of the boundary.
