The paper is devoted to a new method for estimating the system error of a guidance instrument. The problem is considered in the context of ballistic surveying and data processing, having in mind that with the perfection of the guidance scheme the error of the guidance method can be ignored. The main problem considered is the system error of guidance instrument (SEGI) coefficients estimation, on the basis on flight experiment data. In the paper SEGI and the system error of a continuous wave radar system are considered in mutual dependence. A mathematical model is established to estimate SEGI together with the system error of a continuous wave radar system. Using the parameter estimation theory in nonlinear regression, the estimation of both SEGI and the system error of orbit tracking are presented and evaluation of estimation accuracy is given.
