The authors characterize the central topological groups for which the center of the group algebra admits a finite universal Korovkin set. We refer to the paper itself for the definition of this notion. It is proved that the center of the group algebra has a finite universal Korovkin set if and only if the dual group is a finite dimensional separable metric space. Previous related results are due to M. Pannenberg and the authors.
