The paper is dedicated to the solution of Dirichlet and Neumann type problems for the Laplace equation in the exterior of the unit disk, \(\Omega\). Explicit formulae are obtained for the solution, using the method of Fourier series and the Mellin transform. The procedure leads to an integral equation of the first kind, namely \((2 \pi)^{- 1} \int_\Omega |x - y |^{- \lambda} f(y)d \Omega_y = g(x)\) in \(\Omega\), \(0< \lambda < 2\). The author first describes the Sobolev spaces in which the solutions are sought, and then proceeds to the construction of the solution. The last section of the paper deals in detail with the integral equation and its solution.
