Let \(\mu\) be a probability on the real line with moments of any order and let \((P_ n)\) be the corresponding orthonormal polynomials. It is assumed that \(\mu\) is indeterminate so \(p(z) = (\Sigma | P_ n (z) |^ 2)^{1/2} < \infty\) for all \(z\). The classical description of the full set of solutions to the corresponding moment problem depends on four entire functions \(A,B,C,D\) all known to be of minimal exponential type. The main result of the paper is that all four functions have the same growth as the logarithmically subharmonic function \(p\) in the sense that they have the same order \(\rho \in [0,1]\); if \(\rho > 0\) they have the same type \(\sigma \in [0, \infty]\), and if \(\sigma < \infty\) they have the same Phragmén-Lindelöf indicator function and the latter is nonnegative. In a forthcoming paper in Math. Nachr. the results above are extended to arbitrary Nevanlinna matrices of entire functions in the sense of \textit{N. I. Akhiezer}: The classical moment problem and some related questions in analysis (1965; Zbl 0133.016).
