A \(t\)-design on a finite set \(S\) consists usually of a collection of subsets \(S_ i\subset S\) sometimes called blocks having the property that every \(t\)-element subset of \(S\) is contained in a fixed number of blocks. The authors of this paper construct so-called (linear) \(t\)- designs on a vector space \(V\) which is defined over a Galois field \(\text{GF}(q)\). For this particular \(t\)-design the blocks are assumed to be subspaces \(V_ i\) of \(V\) and it is required that every \(t\)- dimensional subspace of \(V\) is contained in a fixed number of subspaces (blocks). Using nondegenerate quadratic forms several classes of \(t\)- designs with block dimensions \(t\) and \(t+1\) are constructed. The 1- and 2-designs are investigated in detail.
