Creeping flow about a slightly deformed sphere (Q1338339): Difference between revisions

The problem of symmetrical flow past a spheroid whose shape varies slightly from that of a sphere with mixed slip-stick boundary conditions is solved. The problem is formulated in terms of the stream function, and explicit expression is given for the flow field to the first order in the small parameter characterizing the deformation. As a particular case, the flow past an oblate spheroidal particle is considered. The drag on this non-spherical body is calculated.
