We construct and analyze a pair of sequences of representations of the symmetric groups. We produce two irreducible 5-modular representations of each symmetric group (except \(S_1\)). For the group \(S_n\), our representations have degrees given by the \(n\)th and \((n-1)\)st terms of the Fibonacci sequence (with respect to the usual numbering). We shall call our representations the Fibonacci representations. In fact, up to a possible minus sign, all of the values of the Brauer characters obtained from Fibonacci representations are Fibonacci numbers.
