Let \(M\) be an \(n\)-dimensional complete Riemannian manifold with nonnegative Ricci curvature, \(n\geq 3\). Let \(M\) have maximal volume growth, i.e., \(\liminf_{r\to \infty} \text{vol} (B_{(p,r)})/r^n =\theta>0\). The authors derive lower and upper bounds for the heat kernel on \(M\). From this one can deduce the asymptotic behavior of the minimal positive Green's function \(G\) on \(M\) previously shown by \textit{T. H. Colding} and \textit{W. P. Minicozzi} [Am. J. Math. 119, 1355-1398 (1997; Zbl 0897.58041)]: \[ \lim_{x \to\infty} {n(n-2) \theta G(p,x) \over d(p,x)^{2-n}} =1. \]
